Economic segregation is growing in the United States, indicating rising economic inequality across the country. Extant research has focused on assessing economic segregation at the metropolitan level. While these measures provide helpful insights into broader patterns of economic segregation, the output areas are quite large and thus fail to provide sufficient measures that capture sub-metropolitan level variation. This project will develop a comprehensive dataset of neighborhood-level economic segregation across the United States. We will use US Census Bureau and American Community Survey (ACS) data to produce neighborhood-level indices of within- and across-group economic segregation and use the indices to generate a dataset of these outputs.
